Client: Newton Medical Center
Project: To develop a donor recognition system for a capital campaign that involved three facilities in three cities and in two different states.
Solution: The design process started with our developing a “donor room.” Newton had on it's main campus a walk through area that had three walls we could use for donor recognition. We decided to use all three walls to list donors to the tri-city campaign. We deep carved panel after panel of names, mission statements and headers to achieve this environmental look. To identify every donor wall in all three facilities as part of the overall campaign we turned our client's logo into an imbedded metal photo plaque that was affixed to the face of every donor wall in each of the sites.
For room and area naming opportunities we broke the project down into major gifts and general gifts. For the major gifts we installed cut stainless steel letters throughout the facility. To insure that major donor naming opportunities would not be lost in a back area of the hospital we added etched metal naming plaques that were hung in the main lobby.
For the general gift room naming opportunities we designed a plaque that could be used universally across all campaigns — current and future. These plaques are now serving our client for their fourth consecutive campaign. The design is based on a plaque with just two elements. One element is the donor inscription. The second element is the logo for the campaign. While the design of the plaque does not change from campaign to campaign, when the logo is changed it becomes obvious which campaign the gift was given to.
