Project: To create a digital display for current campaigns with a touch-screen search capability for over 3,000 historical plaques our client had cataloged.
Solution: The digital displays we used were the newest small square format models from Samsung. We took four units and housed them in a single stainless steel cabinet, turning them visually into a single display. For the search capability we had built a custom touch overlay and used database driven software.
When the program runs, all the screens show off donor names interspersed with current and historical images from the hospital’s archives. The bottom right panel offers the “touch-me” screen for searches. When someone wants to search for a donor they tap the screen, type in the name or part of the name and the software retrieves all instances of that donor — campaigns and categories they donated to, plaques in their honor, biographies and photos. The software then delivers all that information into a touch list right on the screen.
This installation is both compelling to look at and substantial in the information it delivers.
