University of North Dakota Alumni Building
Project: Conceptualize, design and create all the elements needed to recognize donors to the new 30,000 sq. ft. alumni center.
Solution: As with all recognition undertakings a Standards Plan is a great starting point. A Standards Plan is a matched set of recognition items (plaques and cut letters) paired to a table of gifts. Both the cut letters and the plaques should reflect and enhance the brand of the institution while making donors feel properly honored.
The design of the plaques for this project had the University of North Dakota logo acid etched into each stainless steel back plate. Donors’ names were then sand blasted into glass face panels and attached to the metal plates (shown). Each assembly was then installed with hidden screws on the back of the plaque. The cut letters were also installed using hidden screws (shown). Special plaques were designed and manufactured for the on-glass installations (shown) and several outdoor recognitions (not shown).
One of the main highlights of this project was the large branding element, using the University of North Dakota logo. The one shown is on the face of a large curved wall enveloping the main stair case. A matching logo was installed on the back of this same curved wall.
